It may be a common occurrence in New York with its multitude of dance companies, and Chicago regularly enjoys a diverse dance domain, but this weekend the show is as close as Denton, TX. Collage 2012: Denton Dance Festival is the 19th collective performance of dance companies from around the Metroplex.

It is presented by Denton City Contemporary Ballet, but includes performances from a wide span of genres. Duets, quartets, solo performers and whole companies fill the stage for this festival that shows off some of the amazing talent we have right here in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.

    Green Space Arts Collective
will perform a contemporary Celtic piece. Festival Ballet of North Texas will show their work in Vaganova Ballet. Big Rig Dance Collective brings their theater/contemporary combination style to the stage. Denton City Contemporary Ballet 2, the younger sibling of the professional company, will also perform, as well asChris Koehl, a local hip-hop dancer and Season 8 contestant on “So You Think You Can Dance.”
